Watch the tutorial. Cadence BPM Tapper is a great app for calculating the BPM of your music. It's free in the Mac App Store.

To calculate the BPM, tap the spacebar to the beat while your music plays. Then, enter the BPM into the "Events / Minute" field in FCPX:

Hint: if it seems like the movements are too frequent or infrequent for your music selection; try using various multiples of the BPM (i.e. 129x4=516).
