Overview

The Ken Burns Plugin is a Final Cut Pro plugin that adds pan, tilt, zoom and rotate moves to your clips, quickly and easily.

It works great with photos, videos and titles. You don't need keyframes. Drop a preset on a clip, or set your own start and end size. Then control how smoothly the move starts and ends, and when it begins.

It's a fast way to bring still photos to life in Final Cut Pro, without hand-building animations. It works on video too. The demo uses it on cooking, city street, beach, landscape and time-lapse footage.

No keyframing required: moves are created without keyframes.
Ease control: smooth starts and stops.
Start.Delay and End.Early: begin or end the move partway through the clip.
Start.Scale and End.Scale: set how big the shot is at the start and at the end.
Start and end position and rotation: X and Y start and end position, plus Start.Rotation and End.Rotation sliders.
Ready-made moves: zoom in and out, tilt up, down and diagonally, rotate, and zoom-and-rotate combos. Moves come in regular and Ease versions.

How to use

In the Effects browser sidebar, open My FCPeffects > Quick & Easy Ken Burns 2.0 (show the sidebar if it's hidden). Drag a preset onto a clip, or double-click it to apply it to a selected clip.
Select the clip and open the Inspector.
Adjust Start.Scale and End.Scale, then Ease. Use the position and rotation sliders to change where the move starts and ends.
Use Start.Delay and End.Early to time the move.
Tip: for photos that don't match your project size, set Spatial Conform to Fill.
