Overview

The Flying Clip Plugin is a Final Cut Pro plugin that sends your photos and video clips flying on and off the screen, for dynamic sequences and slideshows.

Pick a preset for the direction: up, down, left, right or a diagonal. Each comes with or without a background and with or without motion blur (the versions without render faster).

Set where the clip arrives from and departs to, its angles and timing, and add a border, a drop shadow and a flash at the start or end.

Stack clips to show several on screen at once, and choose from different backgrounds that you can blur, darken or tint.

Features

Direction presets: up, down, left, right and diagonals.
Background or no background, motion blur or none: versions of every direction.
Animation control: arrival and departure direction, movement, angles, delay and speed.
Border, shadow and flash: border width and color, a drop shadow, and flash in or out.
Backgrounds: choose a BG.Type, then blur, darken, tint or reposition it.
Reframe inside the border: Clip.Scale, Clip.Position, Clip.Rotation and crop.

How to use

In the Effects browser sidebar, click My FCPeffects, then Flying Clip Plugin (show the sidebar if it is hidden).
If a clip is not the same shape as your project, make it a compound clip (Option-G) first.
Drag a preset onto your clip, or select several clips and double-click a preset.
Adjust Arrival.Direction, Depart.Direction and the timing controls in the Inspector.
To show several clips at once, stack them, set Overall.Scale and Shift.X/Y, and set BG.Opacity to 0 on all but the bottom clip.

Does it work with photos?

Yes. It works with photos and video clips. Make photos that are not 16:9 into compound clips first.

Can several clips be on screen at once?

Yes. Stack them, adjust Overall.Scale and Shift.X/Y, and set BG.Opacity to 0 on every clip except the bottom one.

What does no MB mean?

No motion blur. Those presets render faster.

Can I save my own settings?

Yes. Use Final Cut Pro's Save Effect Preset to keep a custom version.
