Automatic white balance for Final Cut Pro

Overview

The White Balance Plugin is a Final Cut Pro plugin that fixes incorrect white balance quickly and accurately.

Pick an area of your clip that should be white, and the plugin corrects the color for you. It can also adjust exposure automatically, and you choose how much.

From there, comprehensive controls let you fine-tune brightness, contrast, color temperature, tint, color balance, gamma, gain, blacks, fill and lift.

The demos show a heavy blue cast removed from indoor and outdoor shots.

Features

Automatic white selection: click an area that should be white with the White.Selector eyedropper.
Auto exposure: Auto.Exposure.Amount sets how much brightness change is applied.
Temperature and tint: Blue-Orange and Green-Magenta sliders.
Full color controls: brightness and contrast, shadows, midtones and highlights color balance, plus saturation, hue, gamma, gain, blacks, fill and lift.

How to use

In the Effects browser sidebar, click My FCPeffects (show the sidebar if it's hidden). White Balance Plugin 2 is at the top. Drag it onto your clip.
In the Inspector, click the color swatch next to White.Selector. The Colors window opens.
Use its eyedropper to click an area of your clip that should be white.
Fine-tune with Blue-Orange, Green-Magenta and the other controls. Use Adjustment.Mix to blend.
