Overview

Sharpener is a powerful, easy-to-use sharpening plugin for Final Cut Pro.

Sharpen the entire image, or the shadows, midtones and highlights on their own. Multiplier and threshold controls add detail without harsh edges.

Guide the viewer's eye, too: sharpen just your subject with up to three masks, then soften everything else with blur or defocus. Brightness, contrast, saturation and color balance are built in.

How to use

In the Effects browser sidebar, click My FCPeffects (show the sidebar if it's hidden).
Drag Sharpener onto your clip.
In the Inspector, use All.Sharpen, or the Highlights, Midtones and Shadows controls.
To sharpen one area, set Sharpen.Range to a mask and position it in the viewer.
Add Outside.Mask.Blur or Defocus to soften the rest. Turn off the mask outline before you export.

Can I go beyond the slider limits?

Yes. Click and drag on the number to go past the slider's range on several controls.
