3D rotating cube transitions for Final Cut Pro

Overview

Cube Transitions is a collection of easy-to-use rotating cube transitions for Final Cut Pro. Drop one between two clips and the shots spin on the sides of a 3D cube.

Choose from many easy-to-customize presets, each with motion blur enabled for realistic movement or disabled for faster rendering.

Set how far the cube rotates on each axis, when it rotates, how small it gets and the camera's view angle. Show a background color behind it, or a clip beneath.

Identifier text on the sides helps you see which side is which while you set it up.

Features

Rotating cube presets: spins in many directions.
Motion blur on or off: realistic movement, or faster rendering.
Rotation control: amount, delay and speed for the X, Y and Z axes, with easing.
Scale down and up: shrink the cube during the spin, with its own timing.
Camera.View.Angle: change the perspective of the cube.
Background: a color, or a clip beneath the timeline with BG.Opacity at 0.

How to use

In the Transitions browser sidebar, click My FCPeffects, then Cube Transitions (show the sidebar if it is hidden).
Drag a preset between two clips.
Select the transition and open the Inspector (Command-4).
Adjust the rotation, scale and camera view angle.
Turn on Identifier.Text to check which side is which. If the text is flipped, the clip will be too.

What is the difference between MB enabled and no MB?

MB enabled presets have motion blur for more realistic movement but take longer to render.

Can I show a clip behind the cube?

Yes. Set BG.Opacity to 0 and the clip beneath shows instead of the background color.

Can I change the direction of the spin?

Yes. Adjust Rotation.X.Y.Z, or choose a different preset.

How do I know which side shows which clip?

Turn on Identifier.Text to label the sides.
