Overview

3D Perspective Plugin 2 lets you move and rotate videos and images in 3D space in Final Cut Pro, with on-screen controls for the X, Y and Z axes.

Animate with or without keyframes using the End controls and Animation.Ease. Add a background with parallax, a border, a drop shadow and gradient blur. The 3 Point Animated Line title is included too.

On-screen controls: position and rotation along the X, Y and Z axes, right in the viewer.
Animate without keyframes: set Position and Rotation End values, and smooth them with Animation.Ease.
Backgrounds: drop zone, checker, stripe, ray or static color, with blur, brightness and contrast, and BG.Separation for parallax.
Border, drop shadow, crop and gradient blur controls.
3 Point Animated Line: a companion title for straight or curved animated lines, made of a line, symbols or text.
No Crop version: for compound clips that go beyond the frame.

How to use

In the Effects browser sidebar, click My FCPeffects, then 3D Perspective Plugin 2 (show the sidebar if it's hidden).
Drag the plugin onto a clip.
Use the three on-screen controls to set X, Y and Z position and rotation.
To animate without keyframes, go to the last frame of the clip and set the End controls.
To see a background, adjust Global.Z.Position or Clip.Scale, then pick a Background.Type.

Requirements

If a clip or image isn't the same aspect ratio as your project, make it a compound clip (Option-G) before applying the plugin.
The 3 Point Animated Line is in the Titles browser.

FAQ

Do I need keyframes?

No. Set the End controls on the last frame of the clip, and Animation.Ease smooths the motion.

What is the No Crop version for?

It doesn't crop, so you can apply it to a compound clip without losing the areas outside the frame.

Why can't I see the background?

Adjust Global.Z.Position or Clip.Scale to make room around your clip.

Where do I find it after installing?

In the Effects browser, under My FCPeffects. The 3 Point Animated Line is in the Titles browser.
